The Best Hair Treatment Shampoo

Hair Treatment Shampoo
Depending on your hair type, there are various shampoo formulas that work to remove dirt, oil and products from the hair to leave it soft, shiny and manageable. Conditioners also are important to use, since they protect the hair from environmental elements like the sun and help to add shine to the hair shaft. Not all shampoos are created equal, so it is important to find the right shampoo for your hair type for the best results.

Thick Hair

Those with thick or coarse hair often have dry strands, because any healthy oil the scalp produces to nourish hair has a hard time reaching the full length of the hair shaft. Shampoos designed for people with thick hair usually are creamy formulas with added ingredients such as macadamia nut, Shea butter or other nut oils. These oils coat the hair shaft, leaving hair soft and shiny. Conditioners that contain extra moisture should be used, especially for those with coarse hair. Hot oil treatments are especially beneficial for thick hair that is curly or coarse.

Fine Hair

ShampooFine hair has a tendency to look limp and greasy if not washed regularly. Since washing hair everyday is not always recommended, be sure to find gentle shampoos that are designed for daily washes. Clear shampoos are best for those with fine or oily hair, since they cleanse and remove excess oil better than creamy formulas. Look for shampoo that contains the ingredient Panthenol, which creates volume and body for limp hair. Panthenol penetrates the hair to create a thicker strand. If you choose to apply a conditioner, never use it on the scalp, since that will create an oily appearance. Look for ingredients like Tea Tree Oil, which help to absorb extra hair oils.

Color-Treated Hair

Color-treated hair usually is dry and damaged around the roots, and oily around the scalp. To cleanse the hair, apply a normal shampoo to the scalp to clean away dirt and oil, and a moisturizer on the hair tips to help the damaged parts. Shampoos that are designed for color-treated hair also contain a gentle cleaner while adding ingredients that help preserve the color treatment. Gentle formulas like a baby shampoo also work to clean the hair without stripping valuable moisture.
