Herbal Hair Treatment

You don't have to resort to harsh chemicals to have beautiful hair. With just a few ingredients, you can create a spa-quality hair treatment that will nourish your locks naturally. Discover this healthy, affordable secret to herbal hair care that will give you the look you want, naturally.

Hot-Oil Treatment

  • Combine 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small glass dish. Heat for 15 seconds in a microwave. Add two drops of lavender essential oil and stir until combined. Apply the herbal treatment to dry hair, massaging it into your scalp and hair. Wrap your hair with a warm, moist towel and leave it in place for up to 20 minutes. Rinse your hair for several minutes under warm water, and shampoo as usual. Use this hot-oil treatment monthly to nourish dry, processed hair.

Clarifying Rinse

  • To remove residue from hair-styling products, use a clarifying rinse once or twice a week. After shampooing your hair as usual, mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup brewed peppermint tea and 1 cup water in an empty shampoo (or similar) squeeze bottle. Pour the mixture over your hair. Leave the herbal rinse on your hair for at least two minutes, then lightly rinse (allowing some of the vinegar rinse to remain on your hair). This easy, natural process will add shine and bounce to your hair by removing build-up and stimulating your hair follicles.

Soothing Chamomile Tea Rinse

  • To stimulate hair growth and soothe your scalp, brew a double-strength cup of chamomile herbal tea and allow it to cool completely. Use the cooled tea as a rinse after shampooing. Allow the chamomile tea to sit for at least two minutes before gently rinsing. This herbal rinse is gentle enough to use three or four times a week, and can help soothe a dry or sunburned scalp and soften hair.
